Airbnb news in S&P 500
Airbnb and Blackstone are set to join the S&P 500 before the market opens on Sept. 18 as part of a quarterly rebalance, index provider S&P Dow Jones Indices announced Friday.
Home-sharing company Airbnb has a market cap of more than $84 billion and private-equity giant Blackstone has a market value of about $127 billion, according to FactSet.
- Shares of Airbnb jumped nearly 8% on Tuesday, while Blackstone shares added roughly 4%.
The two companies will replace Lincoln National and Newell Brands in the S&P 500, the broad index tracking large-cap U.S. stocks. Lincoln National and Newell Brands will move to the S&P SmallCap 600 index at the same time.
