Market retreats in year’s last day of trading!
U.S. stock futures retreated Friday in the final trading session of 2022!
putting all major indexes on pace to close out a punishing year with further losses.

Stock futures declined. Futures tied to the S&P 500 lost 0.7%, contracts tied to the Dow industrials ticked down 0.4% and those tied to the Nasdaq-100 declined 1%.
Indexes are set for their biggest yearly losses since 2008. The S&P has fallen 19% this year, through Thursday, while the Dow and Nasdaq Composite have lost 8.6% and 33%, respectively.
Government bond prices ticked down. That pushed the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note up to 3.875%, from 3.833% Thursday.
Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, rose after falling for two consecutive sessions. Brent futures recently ticked up 0.1% to $83.51 a barrel.
European stock indexes retreated. The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 lost 0.8%.
Asian indexes inched higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.2% and China’s Shanghai Composite gained 0.5%.
The WSJ Dollar Index declined, falling 0.3% as it continues to lose steam after its blistering 2022 rally.
Bitcoin edged down 0.8% to about $16,474.
