The S&P 500 is headed toward another record.
The benchmark index rose Monday, having closed at a record high Friday, its first in two years. The blue-chip Dow industrials, which also posted a record close Friday, rose above 38000 for the first time.

Boeing (BA): Federal regulators recommended that airlines check a second type of Boeing jet that uses the same kind of door plug as the one that blew out of an Alaska Airlines flight. The plane maker’s shares wavered in midday trading.
Sunoco (SUN), NuStar Energy (NS): Fuel distributor Sunoco agreed to buy terminal-and-pipeline operator NuStar Energy in a transaction valued at about $7.3 billion. Sunoco’s stock fell more than 5%; NuStar shares rose 17%.
Spirit Airlines (SAVE): JetBlue Airways and Spirit said late Friday that they plan to appeal a ruling blocking their merger. Spirit’s shares rose 13% Monday, after spiraling lower for much of last week before jumping Friday.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM): The agriculture company placed its chief financial officer on administrative leave as it investigates its accounting practices. ADM’s shares fell 22% in midday trading.
Macy’s (M): Arkhouse Management and Brigade Capital Management said they would take their bid to buy Macy’s to shareholders if deal talks don’t pick up. The retailer’s shares rose nearly 3%.
