U.S. stocks were higher shortly after midday, extending last week’s gains.

The S&P 500 rose 0.7%, according to FactSet.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4%, or about 124 points.

Lordstown Motors (RIDE): The electric-vehicle maker’s shares were recently down about 6% after it reported a quarterly net loss of $102 million.

Caterpillar (CAT): The heavy-equipment maker agreed not to close more union-represented plants under a new tentative contract deal, after years of moving production away from unionized sites in the Midwest. Shares were recently down about 1%.

Freeport-McMoRan (FCX): The miner’s shares dropped nearly 2%, mirroring a decline in European mining stocks, after China issued a modest growth target.

BridgeBio (BBIO): The biotech’s stock rocketed higher, surging 56% after it announced positive results from a Phase 2 clinical trial.
